Week 11: Resolution of Final Folio

This week i didn't attend class but i did do some research on Video installation and comtemporary video art. I looked again at Matthew Barney because i really enjoyed his artwork. Matthew Barney really was an artist that i was interested in. He is an American artist who works in sculpture, photography, drawing and film. His early works were sculptural installations combined with performance and video. I really found his piece on Ren and Guardian of the Veil symbolic and interesting, in the way that explored and completed his artwork. I think that the fact the he explored biology, mythology and geology showed a different view into how art can be created and the different aspects of which an artist can take to show a idea or a perspective on a certain matter that is important to them. Gary Hill was also an artist that i was interested in further exploring his work. Especially his incorporation of text in video art. I really enjoyed looking at the artwork Incidence of Catastrophe 1977-78. His sound is also effective and i never really thought that sound and text could bring about a different element in art. I also liked the immersive environments that he explored in his artwork.

Throughout this week also because it is the resolution of folio i have been putting the finishing touches on my artwork. in my proposal my main aim was to displace objects into landscapes and provide different meanings attached to why i might of creating them the way that I have. This did not go according to the way that i wanted it to. I have used 4 artworks that i have created previously using abstract forms and changed the way they look. i will also show artwork that i originally tried but didn't like the way that they turned out. This is something that i am disappointed in but i do like this abstract painting that i have created and changed. Hopefully my message and appreciation of my art will get across to my audience.

Week 10: Video Art The moving IMage:Continued

Throughout this class it was really interesting to view some of artworks that Jenna showed us some of them were really creeping but not bad to view. Throughout this class I did a lot of thinking about my final presentation. I was thinking about how exactly i would present my folio. There were two ways in which i wanted to take my ideas. I wanted to show four pieces of work that i have completed throughout a folio i have done a while back. I completed four big works on canvas using landscapes as my theme to convey to my audience. I wanted to take a photo of them and manipulate them on photoshop to see what kinds of changes i can make to them. They are very abstract and don't really show the exact formation of a landscape but they do convey the colours and the different textures that have been used. Then i want to use my photos that i have taken and two that i have completed already and extend on my ideas of changes things in landscapes where they would make them look different and really make the audience use their imagination on what my intention was. I previously wanted to try and set up my own scene of uncertainly using props that i have taken but i felt like if i started this i wouldn't get a chance to finish it because of the time it would take. I do have a bit of work to do to get my final pieces on the way but i am looking forward to show my finals even though i believe that they will be different to my first ideas that i had come up with.

Week 9- Moving image continued.

Throughout this class video art was looked at and some artists that were significant throughout this time was also looked at. An artist named Peter Callas was one that stuck out. He was a pioneer of the artistic use of the electronic image in Australia. Over the last two and half decades he has electronic and digital media to create a ongoing series of cultural portraits. He as a artists really represented video art in a significant way and i like watching his short videos. They were really powerful in the messages that they were trying to get across the images were really pop like but really showed the message really well. The way in which the artist combined the imagery it worked well and the three that was viewed really showed animation and introduced motif. The piece that i like was Film Night playing card as a recurrent symbol. it was colourful, the appeal was understood and it also showed a darker ideological bias in the set of cards at Callas disposal.

I liked the way that he used disjunctive images of war and territorial conquest (human bombs, brave feats, gas masks) thus convey more about Japans colonial aspirations. Gary Hill, Valle Export, Bill lavil were artists that were looked at also but didn't really get my attention. Another artist that really grabbed my attention was an art piece called I'm not the girl who misses much by pipiloitt rist. I think this artist was an artist that was in your face but effective, at first she looked like a crazy chick but interesting to see how something liked she created could get a message across.

Overall this week looking at the artist really opened my mind to more possibilities and with every piece that we watched it brought a emotive response. With my own artwork i am still working on my photos and trying to make a video with the images and combining them together.

Week 8: The Moving Image: Video as Digital Art

Throughout this week the focus on Video as Digital Art was soemthing that we looked at. This was interesting and mind blowing in the way that anything is possible. I learnt so much just from the people in my class that i thought was a amazing. The presentations that were completed throughout this class showed such a substantial amount of work and such experience that it was thereatening for my own work because i loved what i had saw. I learnt how using the video camera could allow for soem great work to come about.

Overall video art is a type of art which relies on moving pictures and comprises video and audio art. Video art came into existence during 1960's and 1970's and is still widely practiced and has given rise to the widespread use of videpo installations. Looking and soem of the short videos that we saw in class it was amazing to see what kind of art can be created and the messages that could come out of the art. Although it continues to bhe produced, it is represented by two varieties. Single-channel and installations. Single-channel works much closer to the conventional idea of television: a video is screened, projected or shown as a asingle image.

Installation works involve either an environment, several distinct pieces of video presentation separartely, or any combination of video with traditional media. Inastallation video is the most common form of art used today. Sometimes it is combined with other media.

Throughout learning and exploring this type of art i came across a piece of art called self burning. It was a short video experimenting mystical form transformation in absolutely oridinary surroundings of the typical Russian countryside. Also it is a video research of the word "field". Comprehension and the look at agriculture or geography, but also like electric. Self bruning is a union of the two persons. Nikolas Luchkic and Alexsandar Shpakor. Mikolas was born in Karagend, USSK in 1979. Aleksandar was born in Semikarakosah in 1978. They meet 1998 when they started their study and creating there video artworks. When looking at the short piece it was amazing in the way that it showed just a complete different thing to the title self burning and colour and textures that were used in the short movie. i couldn't upload it but it was found on video.art.net. I enjoying viewing the video and found the class interesting in terms of ideas, the presentations and how great my classmates are and just learning something that in wouldn't of got the chance to learn.
