Week 9- Moving image continued.

Throughout this class video art was looked at and some artists that were significant throughout this time was also looked at. An artist named Peter Callas was one that stuck out. He was a pioneer of the artistic use of the electronic image in Australia. Over the last two and half decades he has electronic and digital media to create a ongoing series of cultural portraits. He as a artists really represented video art in a significant way and i like watching his short videos. They were really powerful in the messages that they were trying to get across the images were really pop like but really showed the message really well. The way in which the artist combined the imagery it worked well and the three that was viewed really showed animation and introduced motif. The piece that i like was Film Night playing card as a recurrent symbol. it was colourful, the appeal was understood and it also showed a darker ideological bias in the set of cards at Callas disposal.

I liked the way that he used disjunctive images of war and territorial conquest (human bombs, brave feats, gas masks) thus convey more about Japans colonial aspirations. Gary Hill, Valle Export, Bill lavil were artists that were looked at also but didn't really get my attention. Another artist that really grabbed my attention was an art piece called I'm not the girl who misses much by pipiloitt rist. I think this artist was an artist that was in your face but effective, at first she looked like a crazy chick but interesting to see how something liked she created could get a message across.

Overall this week looking at the artist really opened my mind to more possibilities and with every piece that we watched it brought a emotive response. With my own artwork i am still working on my photos and trying to make a video with the images and combining them together.
